Dr. Mario Ferrón is the Dual Language Coordinator for San Antonio ISD, overseeing the implementation and expansion of Dual Language education across the district. With more than 15 years of Experience in Dual Language, Dr. Ferrón taught 8th Grade U.S. History in Spanish for eight years at the Pharr, San Juan, Alamo Independent School District (PSJA-ISD) before becoming the Dual Language Coordinator for Secondary Schools, guiding the program’s expansion district-wide. Under his supervision, PSJA became the School District with the widest Secondary School Dual Language Program in Texas, serving more than 6,000 students in eight middle schools and five high schools.

In 2012, Dr. Ferrón’s doctoral dissertation won First Place in the National Association for Bilingual Education Outstanding Dissertation Award and he is a renowned speaker in state and national conferences about Bilingual Education. Born and raised in Mexico, Dr. Ferrón has strong interpersonal and academic communication skills both in English and Spanish, and a strong commitment to work with linguistically and culturally diverse populations.
